Theres a guy who is going to my middle school this year, I met him once and it made me so sad that he had this horrible condition. Now, I got a letter from my middle school AND his parents that said this:
Dear Parents,
We are the parents of Alex Ok (6th grade) and writing this letter in order to let you know more about our son, Alex.
Alex has a skin problem called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic disease characterized by the presence of extremely fragile skin and recurrent blister formation from minor mechanical friction or trauma.
He will wear bandages and allow healing underneath. This condition is not contagious. Your child will be safe with him.
An estimated 2 out of every 100,000 live births are affected with some type of EB. The disorder occurs in every racial and ethnic group throughout the world and affects both sexes equally. Unfortunately, there is no cure for EB right now. But many doctors are working to find help for EB.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. (home phone listed)
Sincerely,
Yunjong Ok, Father of Alex
Younglim Lee, Mother of Alex
