Why are guys confusing OMG

So yesterday in English, we had a substitute and me and Katie were throwing erasers at Nathan and he'd throw them back but then Jose hit him with a really big piece of eraser and it pissed Nathan off and now he's mad at me. And I tried talking to him and he just walked away

He's really getting on my nerves. One minute he's talking to me, the next he's talking to another girl and flirting with her

And we have a dance tomorrow and he's going and it's gonna be awkward and I just wanna know if he likes me without having to ask him bc if he doesn't like me it'll be awkward between us and I don't wanna do that

But my friends say they think he likes me and I'm just confused
